How to Update FANUC Profinet Board Firmware and Change Channels

Jun 06, 2024

This video provides a concise guide on updating firmware and switching between Dual-Channel and Single-Channel modes for the FANUC PROFINET board on v9.40+ controllers. The process requires first removing all board connections and then selecting the program PNFBUPDT.PC on the teach pendant. The user must disable I/O functions and power cycle the robot before choosing the desired channel mode, which triggers the "firmware update needed" alarm. The update program then executes, requiring the user to confirm the process by pressing '1'. It's critical not to power off the controller during this brief, three-minute process. This procedure is necessary when changing channel modes, after software updates, or upon replacing the board.

FANUC R-50iA Robot Controller Software PLC - Getting Started

This tech short demonstrates how to get started using the new software option "Software PLC" on the R-50iA robot controller using V10.10P/25 or latest software.  Additionally, two other options, "Operator Panel" and "Process Axis Control" are introduced as a part of the complete Software PLC suite.  These options require the CODESYS™ Development System V3.5 SP19 ~ SP21 and the latest "CODESYS Control for FANUC Robot" package.
