Configuring a Restricted DCS Zone with a Speed Check

Nov 12, 2025

In this video, we’ll walk through how to configure a restricted Dual Check Safety (DCS) zone using a speed check on a CRX robot with the Tablet Teach Pendant (TP). This is a continuation of our earlier tech short on working DCS zones, so if you haven’t seen that yet, we recommend starting there.

We’ll explore how DCS helps monitor robot behavior, including position, speed, and collaborative safety functions. Specifically, we’ll focus on setting up a restricted Cartesian Position Check (CPC) zone that limits robot speed when entering designated areas. This is especially useful in shared workspaces where operator safety is a priority.

You’ll see how to define zones using diagonal or line-based boundaries, configure stop types, and apply speed limits that trigger safety responses. We’ll also demonstrate how to test these settings and apply them in a real-world collaborative assembly scenario.

By the end of the video, you’ll understand how to create a dynamic and safe working environment using DCS restricted zones, and how to manage these zones effectively through the safety DCS interface.

Requirements to Follow Along:

  • CRX robot with Tablet TP
  • Access to the safety DCS setup menu
  • Master code for applying changes
  • Basic understanding of robot motion and safety protocols

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to define and configure restricted CPC zones
  • The difference between diagonal and line-based zone shapes
  • How to apply speed checks to limit robot motion
  • How to test and validate zone behavior
  • Practical applications in collaborative workspaces
  • How to enable, disable, and manage CPC zones

This video is ideal for anyone looking to enhance robot safety in shared environments while maintaining operational efficiency. Sign in to watch and take your DCS configuration skills to the next level.
