In this video, we walk through a practical process for identifying the software options installed and active on a FANUC robot. Whether we are working with a new system, evaluating a recently purchased used robot, or preparing to add functionality through a PAC code, understanding the robot’s current software configuration is an essential first step. We will go over how to quickly access this information using the teach pendant and what key details to look for once inside the system menus.

We start by navigating to the Status screen on the teach pendant, where we can access the Version ID section. This area provides important details about the robot and controller, including identification numbers, model information, and the current software revision. From there, we continue into the options menu, where we can review all installed software packages. This includes both standard features and any additional options that may have been added over time.

As we move through the menu, we will demonstrate how to scroll through multiple pages of software options and recognize when we have reached the end of the list. Along the way, we highlight why this information is valuable when communicating with FANUC support or planning system updates.

Requirements:

  • Basic familiarity with a FANUC teach pendant
  • Access to the robot controller or ROBOGUIDE simulation
  • Appropriate user permissions to view system information
  • A need to verify installed software or system configuration

What we will learn:

  • How to navigate to the Version ID screen from the Status menu
  • Where to find robot model, controller ID, and software revision details
  • How to access and interpret the list of installed software options
  • How to scroll through and review all available software packages
  • Why knowing your robot’s software setup supports maintenance, upgrades, and support requests

By the end of this video, we will have a clear understanding of how to locate and interpret the software configuration on a FANUC robot. This knowledge can help streamline troubleshooting, ensure compatibility when adding new features, and provide confidence in knowing exactly what capabilities are available within the system.
