iRVision CXV Camera Disconnect

Jan 28, 2026

In this video, we will go over an important feature for FANUC’s iRVision system: how to manage CXV camera disconnects when working with tool change applications. This capability is essential for maximizing flexibility and efficiency in robotic operations, especially when cameras are mounted on tools that need to be swapped during production.

We will explore how both 2D and 3DV iRVision cameras operate with the R-30iB Plus controller platform and how they share the same coaxial cable for seamless integration. You’ll learn why this feature is critical for applications that require a robot-mounted camera to be positioned on the opposite side of an automatic tool changer. While this tech short focuses on R-30iB Plus CXV cameras. It’s important to note that Basler 2D GigE cameras are not supported for tool change functionality.

To make this process work, we will review three essential teach pendant programs that enable smooth camera management during tool changes:

  • IRVCAMOFF: Turns off the specified camera before disengaging the tool changer.
  • IRVCAMON: Turns the camera back on after the tool changer is engaged.
  • IRVCAMCHK: Verifies the camera’s status to ensure it is ready for vision processes.

By the end of this video, you will understand:

  • How to properly disconnect and reconnect CXV cameras for tool change applications.
  • The arguments required for each program and how to interpret status registers.
  • How to implement a simple program that checks camera status before running vision processes.
  • Best practices to avoid errors when cameras are offline.

This session is perfect for engineers and technicians looking to streamline robotic vision workflows and maintain accuracy during automated tool changes. Join us to gain practical insights and improve your iRVision setup.
