In this second installment of our three-part series on secure file transfer, we will build on the foundation from Part 1 and dive deeper into managing files on your R-50iA controller using SFTP. Our focus will be on understanding the controller’s file devices, mastering directory navigation, and performing essential file transfer operations with real-world workflows.
We’ll start by reviewing the different file devices available on the controller and their purposes. From memory devices that store user programs to flash ROM for persistent configuration data, and removable storage options like memory cards and USB devices, you’ll learn how to identify where your critical files reside. This knowledge is key to planning efficient backups and updates.
Next, we’ll cover the most common SFTP commands for navigating directories and managing files. Whether you prefer the command line or a graphical interface, these commands work consistently across platforms. You’ll see how to move between directories, list contents, create and remove folders, and confirm your current location on the controller.
