How To Replace Batteries On An Industrial Robot
Discover best practices and step-by-step guidance for replacing batteries on FANUC robots safely and efficiently to avoid downtime.
Annual replacement of backup batteries is critical for robot maintenance to maintain encoder counts and mastering data. Loss of power without battery backups results in loss of mastering and robot positioning. The robot uses standard-size C or D-cell batteries, which cost about ten dollars. Before changing batteries, the robot must be in an e-stop state, and battery backups provide power while the robot is off. To change the batteries, consult the manual or locate the battery trap door on the base unit, remove the old batteries, insert the new ones with the correct polarity, and secure the battery trap door back in place using the screws.
